Joining our team

We are currently recruiting postdocs, PhD students and technicians to strengthen our team at Heinrich-Heine-University Düsseldorf and our R&D on ultrabright laser-plasma electron acceleration. The research is supported by the "NeXource: Next-generation Plasma-based Electron Beam Sources for High-brightness Photon Science" Consolidator Grant funded the European Research Council and other funding sources, and is a transformative innovation pathway in context of the "EuPRAXIA: European Plasma Research Accelerator with Excellence in Applications" ESFRI facility project.

Our vision is to exploit plasma accelerators and its 1,000 x stronger accelerating and focusing fields for the production of 10,000 brighter electron beams, and to work towards most demanding applications such as hard x-ray free-electron-lasers and the research such systems will enable (see e.g. https://www.nature.com/articles/s41467-023-36592-z for a recent research output).
Our in-house facility is the multi-beam ARCTURUS laser facility with two laser 200 TW arms and a dedicated beamline on (hybrid) laser wakefield acceleration, which allows programmatic R&D in this ambitious direction. We also use facilities elsewhere to demonstrate novel research ideas, notably within the hybrid European plasma wakefield accelerator collaboration, at SLAC's FACET-II facility or at DESY or CERN.

Our international and progressive team paired with the cutting-edge R&D programme will allow you to advance in your professional career and open novel perspectives. If you are interested please get in touch and contact
